Sixth Gate: Rock Lee's Springtime of Love [Action/Written]

[Lee had been going about his daily routine as usual - or seemingly so - on this brand new day. But there were some omissions he had not noticed; he did not check the journal to see if Sakura had any new messages, nor did he look out for her at all as he ran throughout the village. And then? His jog came to a sudden halt as he caught Izumo Kamiki out of the corner of his eye. He found himself collapsing to the ground with the sudden rush of feeling.

Those eyebrows... why had he not noticed how beautiful they were? And immediately, he thought of other things that suddenly seemed compelling about her. The way she cared for her fox, the romance novels she seemed interested in reading... There was no choice. He would have to romance her. So he ran off to the flower shop and the library to make preparations.

Later that day, Lee could be found jogging through the village in search of Izumo. The difference? He is now balancing a titanic vase on his head, which is filled with dozens of flowers. On top of that, there's a romance novel sticking out of the pocket of his flak jacket. He is young and in love, and he couldn't feel better.]

[And at some point in the day, Lee sees fit to write a simple message in the journal.]

Youth is love.

I appreciate the wishes but I don't have time for romance, Lee! [ NUN: THE NINJA VERSION! ] I'm a fierce independent kunoichi! I don't need a man!

You do not? I am sure that there is always time for romance. And even so, you do not want one?

There is never any time for romance for me, Lee. I'm too busy taking care of the rest of my team. Besides, I want to be a tough kunoichi. You know, I don't want a guy to interfere with that, so I'm not going to go after one - a powerful one at least. I want to make it on my own, and then, after that, I'll see about becoming less independent.

Ah - but we can take care of ourselves! And I am sure your independence would not be a threat. What if his strength can supplement your own? Should I find you a man with rippling muscles?

It is. I want to make it on my own, without the aid of a guy anywhere, aside from my teammates because males receive the same help that way. You never see anyone talking about how that girl is strong enough to stand on her own, except Lady Tsunade and the Mizukage. I want to be up there, and I don't want to get distracted, or tied down by romance. I want to be a self made woman and you know how it goes once you get serious with someone... [ She looks down. ] You're kinda expected to give up your career. [ From her experience. I mean, look at all of the ninja moms that practice their ninja skills by .... staying at home. ]

Ah... I did not think such sacrifice was always necessary. It would be ideal if two people could instead improve their careers while being together. [He raises a fist.] A hotblooded union!

But that's because you're a guy, Lee! Any girl you pick up won't do anything to hurt your reputation, especially because you're already an established ninja on your own since you're Guy-sensei's apprentice. If I get involved with someone, people will just think I'm subservient to a guy and stuff. It happened with the fourth hokage's wife, and the third hokage's wife!

I am sure they would not think that! You are an excellent ninja in your own right! If Tsunade-sama were to marry, would you think any less of her?

No, because she built up her reputation over time. No one thinks any less of her if she were to get married because, at her point, marrying anyone would be like marrying beneath her.

[ Tenten you're kinda going into slightly insane troll logic now.... ]

I see. If you say so, Tenten... I know that my perspective would certainly not change!

That's because we're teammates Lee! I taught you right on these kinds of things! [ She laughs. ] Maybe when my reputation builds up enough that I become legendary, I'll seek out someone.

I see. I shall do all I can to help you at that time! And should anyone try to demean you for such a choice... I would defeat them personally!
