Greetings, people of Luceti! My name is Rock Lee. I am a ninja from the village of Konoha, and I am also known as the "Green Beast of Konoha". I have been here for around two months now, and I am ashamed to realize that I have never made a proper introduction over the journal. Please forgive me for being so impolite. I assure you all that, as I have served Konoha in the past, here I shall also risk my life to protect any of you from threats, to the greatest of my abilities!

Although most of my time is dedicated to my intense and vigorous study, being caught in the springtime of youth has also made me inclined to constantly seek out new bonds to form with comrades. I anticipate many a new friend, so please converse with me! Lastly, let me tell you my 'way of the ninja': I believe that when it comes to abilities, "hard work" can overcome "genius"! Please, tell me what you think about it.

In shogi, the "King" is the most important piece, but unlike a Kage it's not very strong. It's vital to protect it because it cannot easily fight for itself.

[He takes it for a moment, gets a sense of where he is going with it. And one particular possibility stands out.]

You said that you had to guess at the meaning of "the King" yourself. Does this mean it was posed to you by another? Such as your sensei?

I... I am very flattered to hear that. But now that I hear yours, mine feels so... restricted to myself in comparison. I should be more active in helping others before myself.

Well... sure there are people who are helped because of the way I strive to constantly improve myself... but I am not specifically dedicated to the protection of certain others like you are.

For instance, before you, how many kids graduated from the Academy without using substitution or henge, or creating a single clone?

There were virtually none. [He had checked of course, back in those days, when he was afraid that no matter how hard he tried, he wouldn't be able to make it to even the graduation exams.]

And none since. [Because even if Naruto couldn't make a clone, he could at least manage the other techniques. Shikamaru was surprised to find that out, from his time spent working at the Academy.]

But kids have seen you around. Seeing you've become successful after all probably gives a lot of Dead Lasts hope that they can become great ninjas no matter what someday too.

Naruto-kun may need our support in order to make it happen. But he has already shown remarkable improvement in his skills. [Even if his choices regarding Sasuke have been... disappointing, to the group.] I do hope that he still strives for such a goal.
