I am not sure... I cannot choose, Hikari-san!

Is there any ride that you would wish to go on?!

[Somehow, she got the feeling saying whatever ride you want, Lee-san would lead them into an endless loop of indecision.]

Umm...the...bumper cars one sounded fun! And not too scary.

[Wisely done, Takari. In a polite-off, there are no winners.]

Bumper cars? Ah, I have heard about such a ride! It sounds very interesting! Ah, let us seek them out!

It's a lot of fun!

The cars are really small, and they're surrounded by a lot of rubber and stuff so that nobody gets hurt. You drive around and try to bump into other people. Kind of like tag.

[She explained as she walked along, looking for signs of the attraction as they passed row after row of...interesting setups.]

[He looks enchanted by the concept.]

Ah... That does sound very fun! A tag-like competition in which no one is harmed.... I am sure that I will love it, Hikari-san!

[He keeps his eyes open too, possibly raising a hand every now and then to block Hikari's view of any risque-looking areas. But soon it looks like they might just be nearing something...!]

[Now, Hikari was often known for being a very smart, mature girl. But even she had a hard time figuring out why Lee would every so often deliberately block her view from something as they went along. She never even got a peek. Not a single visual hint as to what he was doing.]

Is...something wrong, Lee-san?

Ah... [He reddens slightly, just from the awkwardness of the subject. But he tries to break it to her nicely.]

...You are a very mature, Hikari-san, but you are still very young! For some reason, there are some things around this carnival that are not appropriate for someone of your age. So, please... let me help to shield you!

[She wasn't the kind of child to argue with something like that, fortunately. Wanting to keep her out of a battle would have been one thing, especially since she had experience fighting--well, Tailmon did--and could hold her own. But this? She was perfectly content with being kept in the dark.]

[...metaphorically speaking, of course.]

But...you said you thought you saw something up ahead?

You are welcome! [He smiles and then refocuses up ahead, towards the bumper car area.]

Yes... Does that look like the sort of attraction that we are seeking?!

[She had to crank her neck a little to see over the crowd. Her small stature certainly wasn't doing her any favorites in a place like this...but...as the people continued to move, and she caught a better glimpse....]

Ah! I think so, yes!

Yes! That must be it. ...Hikari-san, let us race there! [He nudges towards an opening in the crowd. But of course he will go easy on her.]

Okay!

[She wasn't anywhere near as fast as Lee...at all...but she still took off at her own pace, breaking into a run as she headed for the line to get onto the bumper cars attraction.]

[Don't worry, Lee is going easy enough on her that he's trying to match her pace. This is about having fun more than competing!]

Good job! [He cheers as they reach the back of the line.]

[Going easy on her had done wonders for her ego. By the time they both made it, not only was she smiling brightly, but she wasn't even breathing all that hard.]

The line doesn't look that long. I'll bet we can get on with the next round of people!

[Aw. Lee beams proudly at her for her job well done!]

That's right, Hikari-san! It is not that long at all. I am sure that our patience will endure, and we will get our chance soon! Are you excited?

[They can't get a clear view of the actual bumper cars yet though. There are a number of loud noises coming from the area, though.]

[A nod. Followed by a bright smile. Perhaps not so energetic as his, but by her standards, you could almost say her face was glowing. ~~Except not literally. This time.~~]

I've never gotten to drive one of the cars before, but I've seen other people do it.

[She definitely knows how to set a light-hearted tone.]

Is that so? Ah, I will be honored to witness your first ride, Hikari-san! I am sure that we will have a lot of fun. Have they looked complicated to drive?

I don't think so?

You push the petal to make it go, and you turn the wheel to go left and right. Just like a real car.

[...ironically, with a little less understanding of how complicated driving an actual car can be.]

Is that so? Ah, that sounds very simple! I feel that I can get used to this easily, Hikari-san!

[He smiles.

With hope, neither of them should end up in the front seat of a car anytime soon.]

[Well, they're certainly about to get their chance with the bumper version; within a few minutes, they were next in line for the ride. Which gave them a front-row view to all the action. The cars, some being driven individually, some in pairs, steering left and ride and every which way. Many of them deliberately crashing into one another, to the utter delight of everyone involved.]

It does look like fun!

It does! [He pumps a fist excitedly as he watches the cars go at it!] Ah, I am very excited to take this ride on!

[She jumped a little as two cars pretty close to where they were watching engaged in a head-on collision, but relaxed when both parties came out unscathed.]

We're up next, Lee-san. [She motioned to the collective groups who were exiting their ride, leaving a few cars open. One of them, conveniently, was green.] Ready?

Yes! [He cheers as he hops forward. But he lets Hikari have first pick, and he stands nearby in case she needs help getting into the car.]

I feel all fired up for this challenge, Hikari-san! I am ready!

[It was low enough that she only needed to step (slightly awkwardly) up and into the car of her choice. A yellow model, with extra floating padding all around the seat. It would sacrifice speed in exchange for additional guarantee of safety in the event of multiple collisions.]

[Basically, it was as kid-friendly as the ride could get.]

Ready!

[Lee smiles as he steps right into the green car.]

I am also prepared...! [He sits anxiously, waiting for the bumper cars to kick to life...!]
