[Rock Lee makes some great advances in fending off his own monster, and so he looks back to check on Nyuu's progress.

...Just in time to be shocked to see the monster's abrupt new syndrome.]

N-Nyuu-san?!

[ Nyuu-san...someone she knows is nearby. The thought sobers her up right quick, and she stands up on shaky legs. She might've made things more difficult for the other her, which makes things worse for the both of them. ]

It hurts.

['It hurts'? That definitely hits a concern button for Lee. Immediately, he unleashes a dynamic snap kick to knock the beast into the bushes and out cold for a moment.

Then he turns his attention squarely towards 'Nyuu' and swiftly tries to approach her.]

What hurts? What is wrong?

[ He's a face she's never seen before, that's for sure, but if he knows Nyuu, then he's her friend. Well, hers, rather. All the more reason to not do anything untoward while he's around. He's kinda weird, as if she's got any room to judge that. Nice kick though. ]

My head.

[ Since his attention is off the monster for now too, she takes the chance to snap its neck from afar with one of her vectors nice and covertly. ]

Your head? [He certainly doesn't notice the monster's fate and will assume it was just knocked out by his attack. He steps closer to try to help, although he sees no signs of an injury.]

Ah... Was it injured, or do you just feel a headache...?

Just a bump. [ She rubs the goose egg currently knotting up near her temple, and other than a wince, she doesn't outwardly show any sign of pain. ]

Don't worry about it.

[Lee still feels worried... but it really does not seem to ne a serious injury.]

Are you sure? I will gladly help you in any way that I can, Nyuu-san!

Either way... Ah, that was quite some battle! [It's his simple way of tiptoing around the question of "WTF just happened?"]

[ She waves a hand to dismiss any further worry. It's awkward, having someone show concern. So unfamiliar... ]

A battle, huh...

That is right! [He nods softly. He does stop his advance as she dismisses him, but he still hovers nearby in case she does need something.]

At least it seems to be over now. I- I am glad that you are still well, Nyuu-san!

[ She stalls on what to say, the awkwardness nearly too much to bear, and she glances off to the side. Anywhere but directly at him. It's one thing to see someone look at her in hatred, but someone with considerably nicer eyes is disconcerting. If only that daft other self of hers would wake up already. There's no place for her among Nyuu's friends. ]

Forget about me. You...are you alright?

[He starts with a light comment that is bordering on joking.]

Nyuu-san, I cannot forget you so easily! [But he nods at her question.] The enemy caught me by surprise, but I am well! There is nothing to worry about here. We can move onwards, if all is well!

[ Ever the sourpuss, she doesn't smile despite his lightening of the situation. Instead, she motions out in front of them before returning her hand to the bump on her head, as if she needs to constantly shield it from anything else that would hurt it. ]

Then...lead the way.

[He frowns as he looks at her and the bump on her head... but he snaps out of it as she speaks.]

Ah... Yes, Nyuu-san, let us move!

[He starts to move, but he specifically stands in front of her, as preparing to try to intercept anything that might be targeting the bump on her head.]

[ With him in front, she has time to actually think about the situation further. He still thinks she's Nyuu, so she can't act too differently than how that insufferably sunny other side would. She has to bring Nyuu back to the surface. That's how it's supposed to be. ]

By the way... [ She struggles to think of his name. It's hard for her to recall many things Nyuu would know, especially if they're recent. But...she knows it. She can find it out without seeming suspicious. She just has to try.

Oh, right, she called him "Lee-san," didn't she? Yeah, that sounds about right. ]

Thank you, Lee.

[When she says that, he glances back at her with a smile.]

You are very welcome! We may have just met, but... I am glad to help you, Nyuu-san, in any way at all!

[ If she didn't look befuddled before, she certainly does now. She can't even stop herself from asking what she knows Nyuu never would. ]

Why?

[ Kindness for the sake of kindness. How is that actually a thing? How could he be alive for so long if he was so nice? She's seen what the world does to people who are good and kind: they're taken advantage of by others. People like her, and people like the ones who've wanted to hurt her, using those good people as methods of doing so. It'll just get him hurt, so...why? ]

Why? [He seems flabbergasted by the very question. Why ask 'why'?]

Because, you were in trouble, and I can tell that you are a good person, Nyuu-san. As a ninja, and as a young man, I want to help everyone that I can! So... it only makes sense!

[He raises a thumbs up to confirm this.]

[ Again, she's stunned by so honest an answer. Honest, and simply said. Like it's the most unsurprising thing in the world. A good person? She's tempted to smile at that, but a thought hits her before she can grow too conceited.

He's not wrong. Nyuu is a good person. She can't go letting herself forget that. Nyuu is the sunshine that warms people's hearts. She's the ideal version of herself she made so no one would hurt because of her again. It's only natural that ideal self would be a good person; her opposite in all ways.

Only Nyuu. ]

I suppose it does.

[Something seems to be off; there's not a smile to be found. So Lee will do the smiling for her, for now.]

It is indeed the truth! Do not worry... I am sure that we will find our way out of this game soon!

[ Sorry Lee, Lucy's not exactly a smiler. Bad things tend to happen when she does, or sad things. Genuinely unpleasant things, etc. you get the idea. ]

Just watch out. Checking on me all the time...something might grab you.

[Ouch. ...Well Lee cluelessly trucks on regardless.]

That is a risk I will have to take! When I am this determined to protect someone... no hold can keep me for long. I am sure of it!

[ Her smiles have the tendency to make people's eyeballs melt from sheer beauty so maybe someday he'll get the privilege. ]

Then...I'm counting on you. [ She shrugs, and there's a hint of a smile on her lips. Just a little one. Teeny tiny. ]

[That's one way to be heartwarming... and melting.

He beams at her again and offers a thumbs up.]

I will not let you down! [he'll remember that tiny hint of a smile and document it in his youthful brain.

With that, Lee presses onwards in helping her find an exit...]

[ She chuckles. ]

I'm sure you won't.

[ Though, she'll at least keep an eye out herself until Nyuu decides to bring her happy ass back to the forefront. No sense in letting someone Nyuu knows die under her watch. ]
