I saw you training in there. Not bad.

[ Translation: very well done. ]

[And in Lee's mind, it translates to an even higher level of 'senpai noticed me'. It's not quite the same as Gai congratulating him, but this is Gai-Sensei's eternal rival, after all. So he smiles eagerly.]

Thank you very much! [He says with a quick bow.] I am glad to have impressed you. How are you today, Kakashi-sensei?

Mmm, I'm alright, can't complain.

[ Kakashi's really not one for small talk, so he's not going to ask Lee how he is, especially when Lee's answer will most likely run along the lines of youth! or noble pursuits! or self-improvement. ]

I actually wanted to talk to you, so I'm glad I caught you.

[It really would be something like that.]

You have? [His eyes widen and he leans forward in anticipation.] Is there some kind of news? Or do you have a challenge for me? Is it about Gai-Sensei?

Well, I guess you can say it's a sort of challenge.

[ A beat. ]

As you know, we've been working hard to put together the alliance. But there may be many individuals who would be qualified to help us who might have missed our notices about the alliance, or who need someone they trust to refer them. So, we've decided to select a few ambassadors who can represent us proudly and help introduce potential new allies to us.

Does that sound like a challenge you'd be interested in, Lee?

[niceguypose]

Ah... [He doesn't know what to say at first, staring as he contemplates this. To work as an ambassador for the alliance.] That truly is a challenge! And... it is one that I would accept with honor! [Ikki had already asked him to recruit people for the art club. Clearly he can just combine these duties!] But, am I truly qualified?

[ Kakashi's eye curls into a smile at that. ]

You're more than qualified.

You are too kind... Kakashi-sensei! I'm going to work hard to prove you right about that!

I'm sure you'll do your best, Lee.

For every person who turns me down, I'll run a hundred... no, two hundred laps around the village!
